Our current Rotary District Governor recently said, “To join Rotary is to join with one and a half million people, across the globe, trying to make the world a better place.” Service and seeking to make a better world is what unites Rotarians in all of the clubs, wherever they may be.And this is very true of the Rotary Club of Moose Jaw Wakamow! In this past year alone, we have been able to partner with the Yara Centre to provide soft seats for nursing mothers; with Square One in finding solutions to homelessness; with the John Howard Society and Zion Church to provide hot meals; to partner with Moose Jaw Tourism in renewing the gazebo at Mac the Moose; with our schools and local literacy committees in providing literacy funding and scholarships and leadership training opportunities for youth; as well as working with our local food bank and health foundation. In partnership with other Rotary clubs in our district, with Rotary International, with the Rotary Ripple Effect Program and with our partner clubs in Guatemala, our Wakamow club has spearheaded the construction of school classrooms, computer labs, washrooms and wash stations and provided scholarships for the children of communities in remote Guatemala. And with Rotarians globally we participate in Rotary’s goal of ridding the world of polio. We fundraise for this work and make sure that our fundraisers are fun! We have meetings to do business; meetings to learn from speakers or by experiencing others in our community; and we get together often just to enjoy the company of friends. If you would like to be part of serving our community, serving the globe, while making and enjoying friends, we would love to welcome you to Rotary!
Welcome to our Club
Friends of Rotary
Do you like the work Rotary does and would like to help but without the time or financial commitment of being a member or belonging to a club? If so, then Friends of Rotary is for you. Friends of Rotary requires no commitments whatsoever. You simply let us know that you are interested in helping out with Rotary projects as a volunteer, and we add you to our database so that you are advised when we are looking for assistance for our events. For each event, you will receive an email inviting you to sign-up on our online volunteer list. The choice is yours to participate. No money, no commitment.
